Pine - White  (Pinus Parviflora/Pinus Pentaphylla) Bonsai Tree Type (Outdoors) PINE - WHITE (PINUS PARVIFLORA/PINUS PENTAPHYLLA) -

Also known as Japanese White Pine or Japanese 5 NEEDLE Pine. This CONIFER has purplish BARK with black scales upon which needles grow in cluster of 5 in dense tufts. Foliage colour can vary but generally is bluish green on top and bluish white underneath.

STYLE : Suitable for all styles, except broom, but particularly good for formal and informal upright.

WARNING : Fully HARDY>HARDY but need protection against cold winds and prolonged freezing. Avoid waterlogging.




Care Info

PINE - WHITE (PINUS PARVIFLORA/PINUS PENTAPHYLLA) -

REPOT : Every 2-5 years depending on age, in mid to late spring.

SOIL : Prefers free draining 70:30 GRIT:organic mix.

PRUNE : Late sumMEr/early autumn for branches which have become congested and overgrown.

PINCH : Pinch half/third of new SHOOTS in spring. Remove old NEEDLEs in late summer/early autumn to let in light.

WATER : White Pines suffer more from too much than too little water. Keep moist in summer and dry in winter.

 

FEED : Weak, BALANCED FEED monthly in growing season, then nitrogen free in autumn/winter.

WARNING : Fully HARDY>HARDY but need protection against cold winds and prolonged freezing. Avoid waterlogging.
